Looking back on this WTNH news piece the #getitdone crew did with Chris Velardi, it’s hard to believe what has transpired in the last week! 30 sessions in 7 days. Bringing thousands of people together. I was lucky to be at the anchor events each night and I was repeatedly blown away by the amazing people I met, the great conversations & and idea sharing that happened and the sense that we want to make the world a better place by starting right in our back yard. As I said in my interview: “The whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts.” has really proven itself to be true. Social Web Week has transformed the energy into action and brought virtual to reality.
This will live on beyond GoogleHaven, Social Web Week & Podcamp CT. The connections we have made have made us all better because of it.
Tonight is the 30th event. A time to look back and celebrate what we have accomplished and to look forward to the next journey on our evolving path.
Join us.

Social web hits the streets hard connect(ing)icut
25 Events, 7 Days, 1 Week: For, With, By the People of CT
Social Web Week CT is coming to town! A grassroots movement started with a few, turned into many individuals, businesses and organizations joining together to pull off seven days of 25 events July 10-16, 2010. This soon to be annual week. and its events, are hosted by New Haven, but will be passed off to the next CT city during the final event. For a full list of events visit www.socialwebCT.com.
The week is dedicated to bringing people together in CT to explore how best to use the social web to improve our quality of life. Most events are free, open to the public and geared towards making the social Web easy to understand and enjoyable for all, not just the Techies, although there is something for them too.
Meet every day heroes of the real and online community.
Daily themes include Destination CT, Friends & Family, Technologists & Entrepreneurs, Across the Sectors(Business, Citizenry, Community), Marketing for Marketers, Fundraiser for a CT Cause and Connecting in Connecticut. This year’s daylong fundraiser, the Share-a-Thon, is benefiting Best Buddies of Connecticut (www.bestbuddies.org).
Bonding the people of Connecticut together in new ways, Social Web Week CT stands for: Connection, Conversation, Collaboration and Community.
Aldon used QIK to broadcast our meeting live. It is a great way to capture the discussion! Thanks for doing it!

Rapper – More or Les is fantastic Old Skool Rap from Canada – this song is awesome! Check out this video on YouTube:There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends. Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.
